Ethical Grand Challenges

 

To get the Stellify Award you must complete all three Ethical Grand Challenges. You'll get a chance to look at the world around you in new ways and take part in lots of different activities with students from different degree disciplines.

The Ethical Grand Challenges allow you to tackle three of the biggest challenges facing the world in the 21st century:

What do I need to do?

  • Attend the Sustainability Challenge.
  • Look out for an email before the challenge. This will tell you where to go and when
  • Please note: Students starting their degree in September 2020 will take the Sustainability Challenge in their second year

How do I show I've completed it?

  • You need to sign the register on the day to prove that you attended

Explore how you can support human rights and work to build fairer communities in Manchester, the UK and across the globe.

What do I need to do?

  • Complete the Social Justice Challenge via the 'My Communities' section on Blackboard
  • It takes only 50 minutes to complete online and you don’t have to complete it all in one go
  • Please note: Students starting their degree in September 2020 will take the Social Justice Challenge in their first year
  • Please note: Students who started their degree in September 2019 will take the Social Justice Challenge in their second year

How do I show I've completed it?

  • Your participation will be verified by completion of a series of multiple choice questions in Blackboard 

Get ready for the workplace by exploring ethical dilemmas commonly faced by graduates in their early careers. 

What do I need to do?

  • Attend a Workplace Ethics Challenge face-to-face workshop or complete the challenge online
  • Sign up to a Workplace Ethics Challenge workshop in your final year via the Ethical Grand Challenges website 

How do I show I've completed it?

  • If you attend a face-to-face workshop you need to sign the register on the day to prove that you attended
  • If you complete the online challenge in Blackboard, your participation will be verified by a short multiple choice quiz
